The Way of the Dulcimer / Dulcimer History - C1
A fun, informative, well researched, fact based history of the beginnings and evolution of the dulcimer. Antique, replica, vintage and modern instruments are employed to demonstrate the Who, Where, When, and Why of changes in the dulcimer's construction and the way it is played. While this workshop is mostly a lecture/demonstration format, instruction and Tab will be provided for a few songs ranging from early traditional to more contemporary chord based dulcimer arrangements.

Designed for players of ALL experience levels, this workshop will offer a traditional title, "Come All Ye Fair and Tender Ladies"; players can expect to learn a Melody, Basic Embellishment Technique and Back-up, as time permits. Open to "readers" and by "by ear" players.
Minor key tune for HD - D3
This workshop will offer Old Time fiddle tune, "Cousin Sally Brown"; this haunting melody allows players to use syncopated rhythms in a minor key! Open to "readers" and "by ear" players. Melody and Back-up as time permits. ALL LEVELS WELCOME.
Shape Note Hymn - D4
Players of ALL Levels are welcome to participate in this workshop; "Murillo's Lesson" is a beautiful Shape Note Hymn that will be presented as Melody, Embellished, Back-up parts, as time permits. Open to "readers" and "by ear" players.

5. ALL LEVELS – Playing Back-up/Accompaniments on Hammered Dulcimer - Presented as DEMONSTRATION/PARTICIPATION, players should bring instruments to this workshop. Focus for the workshop will be techniques for playing HD in jam sessions and to back up/accompany other instruments and voices in a variety of rhythms and styles. Open to "readers" and "by ear" players.
